Product Description (No Prototypes accepted)
This cosmetic packaging solution creates a premium matte finish directly during blow molding, without using conventional spray coating. This innovation reduces additional processing, VOC emissions, energy use, and production time. The Heat & Cool technology rapidly heats and cools the mold to reproduce a fine etched pattern on the container surface, thus creating a matte appearance. After this, a plasma surface treatment can be applied for improved printing adhesion. In tests, the treatment demonstrated a more than two-fold improvement in printing adhesion, alcohol-resistance, and cross-cut tests compared to the conventional surface treatment.
The process is compatible with various cosmetic container shapes and is suitable for premium beauty packaging and recyclable packaging strategies.
Research, Clinical Tests & Trials Results (Safety & Dermatological)
As this is a packaging technology rather than a cosmetic formula, clinical or dermatological testing is not applicable.
The technology has been technically evaluated through third-party performance testing by KTR (Korea Testing & Research Institute).
Heating & cooling performance: Mold heating to 75°C and cooling to 55°C were each achieved within the target time of 25 seconds.
Surface quality: Surface roughness and matte surface depth were evaluated on the Sulwhasoo Soonhang 200ml container using standardized measurement methods.
Gloss & gloss uniformity: Gloss level at 60° and surface gloss uniformity were independently evaluated by KTR.
Additional development results showed more than two-fold improvement in printing adhesion in adhesion, alcohol-resistance and cross-cut tests compared with the conventional surface treatment

“A premium matte cosmetic bottle created directly through molding—without spray coating.”
Product Innovation
The key innovation is that the matte finish is created directly during the blow molding process instead of being added through a separate coating operation. Heat & Cool technology rapidly heats and cools the mold to reproduce a fine etched pattern on the container surface.
This creates a consistent matte appearance while reducing additional processing, VOC emissions, energy use and production time.
The solution also combines plasma surface treatment to improve printing adhesion, providing both premium aesthetics and practical manufacturing benefits in one integrated process.
Ingredients List & Formulation (INCI List Mandatory)
N/A – Packaging Technology
This product is a cosmetic packaging manufacturing technology and does not contain a cosmetic formulation or INCI ingredients.
The main material is PET used for blow-molded cosmetic containers. The technology focuses on mold surface etching, Heat & Cool temperature control and optional plasma surface treatment rather than on a cosmetic formulation.
How to use it
A PET preform is placed into the Heat & Cool mold.
The mold is rapidly heated to improve pattern transfer.
The etched micro-pattern is reproduced directly onto the container surface.
The mold is rapidly cooled to stabilize the shape and surface texture.
Optional plasma treatment can be applied to improve printing adhesion.
The finished container can then proceed to filling, decoration and final packaging.
No additional matte coating application is required.
